POTS

If you or a loved one experiences dizziness, rapid heart rate upon standing, brain fog, fatigue, or lightheadedness, it may be more than just “feeling off.” These symptoms are commonly associated with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)—a form of dysautonomia, or dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.

At Vital Balance, we approach POTS not just as a cardiovascular issue, but as a brain-body regulation problem. The autonomic nervous system—which controls heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature regulation—relies on accurate, coordinated input from the brainstem, spinal cord, inner ear, eyes, and postural muscles. When those inputs are disrupted, the body struggles to regulate itself during simple tasks like standing or walking.

Our Approach to POTS & Dysautonomia:

1. Comprehensive Functional Neurologic Evaluation
We begin by evaluating how well the brainstem, vestibular system, cerebellum, and frontal cortex are working together to manage autonomic tone. Our assessment includes:

  • Heart rate and blood pressure response to posture changes

  • Eye movement and visual tracking analysis

  • Vestibular and proprioceptive testing

  • Gait and balance analysis

  • Upper cervical and cranial nerve screening

2. Upper Cervical Correction & Brainstem Regulation
The upper neck (C1/C2) plays a direct role in autonomic balance by influencing the vagus nerve, brainstem nuclei, and spinal input to the cardiovascular and respiratory centers. Even subtle misalignments here can disrupt the body’s ability to regulate heart rate and blood pressure properly. We use gentle, highly specific adjustments to restore alignment and reduce interference to the brainstem.

3. Neurologic Retraining for Autonomic Balance
Once structural interference is corrected, we introduce a customized program of vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive rehabilitation. These exercises retrain the nervous system to better interpret posture, motion, and space—helping the body respond to standing, walking, and stress with more stability and less overreaction.

4. Lifestyle & Recovery Strategies
We guide patients through daily rhythm optimization, hydration/salt intake strategies, light movement protocols, and nervous system “micro-dosing” techniques that support long-term adaptation and autonomic resiliency.

Who We Help
We work with teens and adults who experience:

  • POTS or suspected dysautonomia

  • Dizziness or rapid heart rate when standing

  • Exercise intolerance or post-viral fatigue

  • Long COVID symptoms with autonomic instability

  • Chronic fatigue, brain fog, and heat or position sensitivity

Why This Matters
Many people with POTS are told their symptoms are “just anxiety” or are given limited tools beyond symptom management. We offer a neurologically-informed, precision-based approach that seeks to restore control and regulation—not just mask the dysfunction.

If you're tired of feeling like your body is overreacting to everything, and you're looking for a care model that sees the whole picture, we’re here to help.

Schedule a consultation to start retraining your nervous system and restoring balance from the inside out.
